Alder cones 25g/40g

Alder cones are very popular in aquariums because of their most important property, their antibacterial effect. Alder cones are also said to have a positive effect against fungi and parasites, as well as lowering the pH value and making it easier for shrimps to shed their skin.

A side effect of using alder cones is that the water turns a slightly yellowish-brown color due to tannins. This is caused by the active substances being gradually released. Some fish species prefer this coloration of the water and display a particularly beautiful color in it.

Application :

1 alder cone is enough for about 20 liters of water. Unfortunately, the duration of the effect of this natural product is difficult to estimate, as it depends on many factors. However, it is advisable to replace the alder cones or add new ones every few weeks. The "old" alder cones can remain in the water and are grazed by shrimp as food.

The alder cones can be rinsed briefly under cold water beforehand to remove any dust. However, the cones should never be poured over with hot water, as this will wash out all the active ingredients. After being placed in the aquarium, the cones initially float on the surface but sink to the bottom quite quickly.
