The roots should be pre-watered for at least 24 hours before planting to prevent swelling and to restore flexibility.

As with all roots, the Twisted Roots release tannins into the water, which turn the water yellowish/brown, but are completely harmless and disappear after a while. A bacterial growth can also become noticeable, which is also harmless and disappears on its own after about four weeks.
