ADA originally developed the soils Amazonia Light and Amazonia Ⅱ to prevent water clouding and algae infestations during the running-in phase. However, because there was high demand from aquarists who wanted a soil for better plant growth, ADA continued research and designed the new Aqua Soil Amazonia Ver.2. This uses the same raw materials as for the Amazonia Ⅱ, and the soil therefore also brings the pH value of the water slightly into the acidic range . It prevents clouding or algae infestations . However, the new soil comes with the Amazonia Supplement , which serves as an additional source of nutrients . This supplement contains the same nutrients and organic acids as the original Amazonia, and it even provides more nitrogen. This helps the aquatic plants grow strong and healthy . Depending on how the Amazonia Supplement is dosed, you can influence the nutrient content of the substrate yourself. For example, the nutrient concentration in the soil can be increased specifically in the places where it is needed - this is particularly beneficial in large aquariums.
