Witch hazel

Now it's getting magical - okay, not quite. But the name led us to the introduction.

Witch nuts get their name from their shape - why is something we couldn't find out quickly on the internet. In any case, witch nuts are woody or dried fruits of the hazelnut tree.

They can be used as decoration and offer the shrimp a great place to hide. Especially for our little ones. Since it is a natural product, each nut looks a little different. Regardless of the shape, it is a perfect source of food for shrimp, crabs and snails. The winding branches create a lot of grazing space in a small space.

However, the release of humic substances is manageable, but they nevertheless have a positive effect on water quality.

Before using them in the aquarium, they should be briefly scalded with hot water and any hazelnuts that may still be present should be removed.
